Acuron is a corn herbicide made by Syngenta which as proven and effective control of a variety of weeds in both pre and post emergent activity. The major difference between the three products are their primary ingredients. Each of the products contain bicyclopyrone (BIR) and mesotrione and a crop safener, Benoxacor. These products work by disrupting chloroplast activity in weeds by inhibiting the function of the essential plant enzyme HPPD, which deactivates the enzyme inactive. This prevents the formation of carotenoid pigments and results in death among the weeds that choke out light and nutrients from corn plants. Corn plants survive after exposure to BIR and mesotrione because they are able to metabolize BIR and mesotrione into inactive and innocuous compounds. Acuron contains atrazine, which is primarily used as a pre-emergent, however Acuron may be used as an early pre-emergent on field corn, seed corn and silage corn, but NEVER on sweet corn or yellow popcorn. Acuron Flexi, DOES NOT contain atrazine and allows farmers greater flexibility to use Acuron Flexi to control tough weeds like giant ragweed, kochia, marestail, Palmer amaranth and waterhemp. It can also be used as a post-emergent up to the time corn has reached 30 inches in height, under certain conditions. The use as a post-emergent on sweet corn and yellow popcorn remain in effect for Acuron Flexi. Acuron GT contains no atrazine, however, contains glyphosate for glyphosate resistant corn. Acuron GT provides faster knockdown and enhanced control of 90+ species of yield-robbing grass and broadleaf weeds, including Palmer amaranth, waterhemp, giant ragweed, morningglory, marestail, giant foxtail, kochia, cocklebur and burcucumber. The use of these herbicides should be performed by licensed individuals and Acuron can only be sold by a license restricted use pesticide dealer (GA # 21827). Refer to the label for all instructions BEFORE use.
